Abstract:In order to increase the resources of rough sea cucumber Holothuria scabra in tropical sea, key techniques of large-scale breeding were established. From June 2014 to May 2015, the rough sea cucumber collected from the sea of Lingshui county, Hainan province were used as broodstock ones. The techniques of transporting broodstock, broodstock rearing, inducing broodstock to spawn, and culturing larval and juvenile rough sea cucumber were explored. Results showed that the survival rate of broodstock rough sea cucumber reached 99.8% when they were transported in aerating plastic bags. The survival rate of breeding broodstock rough sea cucumber in this study was above 97.1%. The success rate for inducing broodstock rough sea cucumber to spawn was 93.3% using the combination of cool drying and flowing water methods. In this study, 12 batches of early auricularia and seedling cultivation experiments were carried out, and a total of 54.74 million early auricularia were cultured and 4.459 million juveniles with body length of 1.0—5.5 cm were cultivated with total survival rate of 8.1% from early auricularia to juvenile. The large-scale production of rough sea cucumber seedlings was preliminarily realized.
