Abstract The effects of 4 diluents on sperm quality in large yellow croaker (Pseudosciaena crocea) were studied under room temperature and low temperature (4 ℃) .The results showed that the diluents showed better preservation under low temperature (4 ℃ ) than that under room temperature , especially the diluents containing glucose better than the one without glucose .Holtfreter solution had the best effect in all the four diluents ,and the maximum preservation time of over 22 hours under the low temperature , much longer than under the room temperature .The fertilization rate of 73 .3% was observed in the eggs fertilized by the sperm preserved in Holtfreter solution .
