Abstract The electrophoresis patterns of mantle protein were compared by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) in clam Meretrix meretrix with different stripes collected in Guangxi coast to optimize the clam seed. The results showed that most of the protein electrophoresis of the mantle had the same bands, while a few clams with different stripes had different contents and types of protein, and these differences were not found to be related to the stripes.
