Abstract Northern snakehead (Channa argus) and its hybrid were stocked into a pond and fed formulated feed or frozen fish separately to evaluate the effect of different diets on growth performance and survival. During the experiment survival of 80.9%, yield of 5.2 kg/m~2 and feed conversion ratio of 1.367 were found in the hybrid culture pond in which the water was exchanged twice during the experiment while survival of 53.9%, yield of 1.8 kg/m~2 and feed conversion ratio of 4.29 were observed in the northern snakehead pond in which the water was exchanged 6 times.
