Abstract The pathogenic bacterial strain HS807 was isolated from the liver of yellow catfish Pelteobagrus fulvidraco with the red-head disease. The strain HS807 was identified as Edwardsiella ictarda by morphology of the bacterial cultural performances,physiological and biochemical characteristics, the gene sequence of 16Sr RNA and artificial infection. The drug sensitivity showed that the isolated strain HS807 was highly sensitive to Cotrimoxazole, Ciprofloxacin, Cefalexin, Doxycycline, Ampicillin, Enoxacin, Rocephin, Neomycin and Furazolidone.
