Abstract Two species sea urchins, Strongylocentrotus nudus(♀) and S. Internidius(♂), were hybridized with the average fertilization success of about 2.5%. When the eggs of S. Nudus were fertilized with sperm of S. Intermedius, the amount of sperm selected synchronously was used at a rate of above 40 times than that in normal fertilization. Besides, the hybrid larvae had normal growth and metamorphosis at suitable water temperature, light and feeding regimes, and the period of whole metamorphosis were almost the same as their broodstocks. The hybrids had intermediate body color and thorns between their broodstocks. Total of 0.6×10~4 individuals/m~3 was obtained with test diameter from 2.59 to 2.88 mm,average of 8.8 mm during 6～7 month rearing.
