Abstract The histology and ultrastructure of the nidamental gland of cuttlefish Sepiella maindroni were studied using light microscopy and electron microscopy. The nidmental gland was found to consist of two parts:an nidamental wall and many lamellae containing two types of cell(cells TypeⅠand cells typeⅡ) . The main function of Cells TypeⅠ was to secret most of the granules made of glucoprotein,and cells TypeⅡ did not secrete granule and maybe have a function of supporting the cells type.
