Abstract The bactericidal performance of Tetrakis Hydroxymethyl Phosphonium Sulfate (THPS),2-Bromo-2-nitro-1.3-Propanediol (BNP) and formalin was studied in a carrier quantitative germicidal test. The results showed that the average inhibition effect of THPS on Aeromonas hydrophila strain BSK-10 was 100% at the concentration of 0.500 μl/L. The average inhibition effect of THPS on the strain GYC1108-1 was 100% at the concentration of 500 μl/L. The average inhibition effect of THPS on Edwarelsiella (Et) was found to be 100% at the concentration of 1.00 μl/L. The average rate of inhibition effect of BNP on BSK-10 was 100% at the concentration of 16 mg/L. The average inhibition effect of BNP on GYC1108-1 was 100% at the concentration of 8 mg/L. The average rate of inhibition effect of BNP on the strain Et was 100% at the concentration of 8 mg/L. The results showed that the germicidal efficacy of THPS was stronger than that of formalin and BNP in the same concentration.
