Abstract The acute toxicity of non-ionized ammonia to juvenile goldfish Carassius auratus(5.0±0.61) cm in body length, and(12.17±1.57) g in body weight was studied via a general method. It was found that the 24 h CL_(50), and 48 h LC_(50) values(95% confidence interval)of nitrite-N to the juveniles were 0.454(0.393～0.515), and 0.267(0.213～0.322) mg/L, with security concentration of 0.028 mg/L, indicating that the juveniles has lower toleration ability.
