Abstract In this paper ,full‐length cDNA and genomic structure of Apo‐A1 gene were identified based on the cDNA fragment that we previously reported .Tissue distribution and immune response of the Apo‐A1 gene to bacterial challenge were investigated .Results showed that the full‐length cDNA was 1207 bp in length including a 32 bp‐long 5′untranslated region (UTR) encoding a 262 amino acids .In the 1391 bp‐long genomic DNA ,just one intron was identified .Real‐time quantitative PCR demonstrated that Apo‐A1 transcripts were ubiquitously expressed in ten tissues ,with distinctly different expression level .Signifi‐cant changes were observed in intestine ,liver and spleen after the fish was challenged with pathogenic bac‐terium Aeromonas hydrophilia .The findings suggeste that Apo‐A1 may involve in the immune system of this fish .
