Abstract:A feeding trial was conducted to determine the effects of dietary phospholipid level on fatty acid composition in body of catfish (Pangasius sutchi) .Five test diets containing different phospholipid supple‐ment levels of 0% in group 1 ,and 1% in group 2 ,2% in group 3 ,3% in group 4 ,and ,4% in group 5 were fed to the catfish for 56 days .The results showed that the content of C18 :3n3 in the body tissues (liver ,muscle ,abdominal fat) was increased with increasing dietary phospholipid level ,while the change of C18:1n9 content was opposite .The HUFA content in liver in group 5 was the maximum among groups , while the content in gourp 1 was the minimum .The content of fatty acid class in the three body tissues fol‐lowed that :∑SFA> ∑MUFA > ∑PUFA> ∑ HUFA .The major SFA ,MUFA and HUFA in diets and body tissues all were C16 :0 ,C18 :1n9 and C22 :6n3 ,respectively .The findings indicate that the fatty acid composition of liver ,muscle ,abdominal fat is affected by the dietary fatty acid composition to some ex‐tent .The maximal HUFA transformation ability was observed in the liver and muscle tissues in group 5 .
