Abstract:The embryonic and larval development was observed in Triplophysa angeli, and the morphological features and time of the development phases were described in detail under a microscope by digital camera. The fertilized adhesive eggs had a diameter of 0.87~1.05 mm and expanded to 1.24~1.41 mm upon absorption of water. The larvae hatched 119 h 44 min after fertilization at water temperature from 16.3 to 18.1 ℃, with the cumulative temperature of 2083.4 ℃·h. The biological zero degree for the fertilized eggs was found to be 4 ℃ with the effective cumulative development temperature of 1610.4 ℃·h. The embryonic development can be divided into 6 periods and subdivided into 35 developing stages. The longest period was observed in the organogenesis among the embryonic development. The newly hatched larvae had total body length of 4.58 mm, and the development of the larvae lasted nearly 28 days.
